Dear Pen Bay Christian School Family,
Perhaps by the time you read this you will have more spring in your step than I currently have in mine! Each year it seems harder to “spring ahead!” By the looks of some students and their families arriving this morning, I am not alone. Despite the fatigue, we have much to look forward to this month! The first day of spring, Palm Sunday, and my favorite holiday, Easter, ALL arrive in March this year!
Congratulations to Mrs. Adolphsen and her family as they welcome a new baby girl, Audrey Grace. While the Adophsen family enjoys this happy time together, we welcome Mae Chappell as our Music substitute. If the name sounds familiar, Mae is the wife of Chris Chappell, Pastor of Harbor Light Church in Rockland. Pastor Chris also serves the Lord as Administrator at Mid-Coast Christian Academy in Thomaston. They are also the parents of four children including Pen Bay Christian School’s preschooler, Zack, and elementary students, Bella and Gabbi.
Did you know that the State of Maine turned 196 years old this week? Mrs. Chamberlain’s class could tell you ALL the details as they celebrated the official birthday this past Tuesday, March 15th. Maine was originally part of Massachusetts and called the District of Maine. In 1820, Maine became a state as part of the Missouri Compromise. Maine was admitted as a free state and Missouri was admitted as a slave state. Mrs. Chamberlain’s class has been making a “State of Maine” quilt showcasing their artistic skills. Because this is after all a birthday party they played “Pin the Tail on the Moose!” I also understand some of Maine’s tastier foods were part of the celebration too! Later this school year, the class plans to visit the Maine State Museum which has some excellent artifacts surrounding Maine’s statehood. Our teachers have masterful ways of making learning fun and exciting. Students remember this type of instruction long after they have left the classroom!
In Him and for Him,
